2026-27 Committee applications

We're looking for a new team of volunteers to help run and shape the club over the next year.

NP.CC is first and foremost a community and we massively appreciate all the amazing help we get from volunteers to keep this show on the road. Taking on a role is an opportunity to give back and see how much people get from being part of a small club like ours.

We are looking for volunteers with a mixture of cycling experiences, and are especially keen to hear from you if you are from a background that is under-represented in traditional cycling culture. Our community thrives on diversity.

You can apply as a team with someone else if you would like to propose sharing a role.

  • How to apply: Please answer a couple of quick questions using this link: https://forms.gle/E5KqWbBirhhj3n4M8

  • Deadline for applications: Thursday 30th April

  • If you have any queries or would like to chat about what a role involves or your suitability for this role, please contact us at newtownparkcc@gmail.com

    • Be the welcoming face of, and main point of contact for our fortnightly Sunday club rides, dealing with enquiries and any issues that may arise.

    • Deliver the pre-ride briefings and organise pace groups.

    • Create and maintain the Sunday Social route calendar and sign-up sheet.

    • Publicise upcoming rides through the club’s social channels.

    • Liaise with pre and post ride venues.

    • This role will be shared amongst at least 3 volunteers, each of them does not need to be present at each Sunday Social and cover each other availability wise.

    • Be the welcoming face of, and main point of contact for our weekly hills ride, dealing with enquiries and any issues that may arise.

    • Deliver the pre-ride briefing, and set off riders.

    • Publicise the ride through the club’s social channels.

    • Liaise with LHG Brewpub (or any finishing venue)

    • Be the main point of contact for any female, or gender minority riders, dealing with enquiries and any issues that may arise.

    • Work alongside the Trails & Ales Women’s Steward, and Club Ride Stewards to ensure weekly rides are inclusive and welcoming to everyone.

    • Proactively work on ways to encourage and support women, trans women, non-binary folks and anyone who is gender non-conforming in participating in regular NP.CC rides and events.

    • Work with the committee in ensuring the culture and ethos of NPCC remains a community that is open and welcoming to everyone who identifies as a woman (with input into club communication, special events, policies etc from this perspective)

    • Be a supportive and confidential point of contact for club members who raise issues of wellbeing, discrimination, safety, and inclusion.

    • Working with others in the club to ensure the welfare of all members and participants

    • Work alongside the Club Committee to mediate and resolve any issues appropriately. Drafting communication where needed.

    • Help develop club policies and initiatives that build upon and strengthen the ethos of the club, ensuring everyone feels safe and included.

    • Create posts, and stories for social media.

    • Work alongside Ride Stewards to publicise club rides and events through Instagram and our social channels.

    • Help source, and maintain our catalogue of photos from club rides and events to share online, and further promote the club’s culture.

    • Answer general queries sent to the club via our Instagram inbox.

    • Help organise our annual special rides, and social events. Liaising with vendors and venues.

    • Work alongside Committee Stewards, and club riders to organise one-off or new events.

  • David McMillan

    FOUNDER / DIRECTOR
    HE/HIM

When he’s not riding his bike, Dave is more than likely drawing them. Creating illustrations and murals for clients around the world, and across Bristol. He helped set up the club to give himself another reason to finish bike rides at his favourite taprooms.

  • JAMES DIGGLE

    FOUNDER / DIRECTOR

When Dave and I founded the club, we bonded over having a good laugh before, during and after a bike ride. Years on, all be it with a few more people with us after a ride, not much has changed! I was never one of the sporty kids at school, and an underdog indie spirit lies at the heart of our vibe at NP.CC. You are more likely to find me chatting nonsense about gigs and films down the taproom than cycling.

  • FREYA GEORGE

    SUNDAY SOCIAL STEWARD

A group ride newbie before NP.CC, Freya’s keen to help others find the NP.CC community that’s been a part of her life since she moved to Bristol. She moans about hills but secretly quite likes them, and has internal battles about whether to cycle, row, or run on any given day. Pro tip: ask Freya about the geology as you cycle up Burrington or Cheddar.

  • KEVIN GORTON

    SUNDAY SOCIAL STEWARD

Kev joined the very first Newtown Park ride back in February 2022 and loved it so much he kept on coming back ever since. When not out riding bikes (road or gravel, he’s not too picky), he’s often out walking with his Springer Spaniel or attempting to learn the guitar.

  • ADAM BECKET

    SUNDAY SOCIAL / SOCIAL MEDIA

Adam has been with the club since its first year. For his day job, he is news editor of Cycling Weekly, so probably needs to find a hobby that isn’t cycling. In his spare time, he is ½ of bristol.pub, likes to run and read, and pontificate loudly.

  • Will Jones

    HILLS & PILS STEWARD

Tech journalist for Cyclingnews with a strange passion for riding up hills that comes from growing up in Cornwall where there are no flat roads. Keen photographer, keener lover of ice cream, and a lifelong bike nerd to the point he's even made his own frames and built his own wheels.

  • ELLA WAPLES

    TRAILS & ALES

Ella joined Trails & Ales for the first time on a women’s ride and hasn’t looked back since. After a summer of fun Mondays she didn’t want to stop through winter and offered to start herding and absolutely loves it and the community NPCC has created. When not on a bike caked in mud she loves to bake, because snacks are obviously the most important part of the ride.

  • PAUL COHEN

    TRAILS & ALES

Paul has been an irregular at Trails & Ales since its inception, with gravel riding slowly replacing a long-distance audax habit. When not on a bike he might be up a hill, in a river, deep in a book, or sorting his recycling.

  • becky jenkins

    WOMEN’S STEWARD (ROAD)

Since picking up a second hand road bike in 2022 and daring to go further than the commute, Becky wants to make sure as many people as possible discover the transformative benefits (and endless fun) of cycling. If she’s not out on the bike, she’s probably unsuccessfully attempting DIY.

  • Hilary Roberts

    WELL BEING STEWARD

Swimmer turned triathlete turned cyclist, Hilary loves the social aspect of group rides. When not on two wheels, you’ll probably find her at a coffee shop, singing Disney songs, or getting overly competitive over a board game. Always up for talking about big ideas, having deep conversations, and one more hill (probably).

  • Ben Woolf

    TREASURER

Ben's been riding with the club since its first year (not OG sadly!) and looks after the club finances. He's a sucker for Hills & Pills and occasionally backs himself to go with the quick group, which he regrets just about half way up Constitution Hill. Favourite beer: Doombar or Saison du Pont
